After graduating from California State University with a degree in Fine Arts, Stephanie Slama studied with the New York School of Visual Arts and the Paris Ecole Supérieure d'Arts Graphiques / Penninghen graphic design and photography with Elle magazine art director Peter Knapp. Her work as production assistant for fashion photographers Mario Testino, Vincent Peters, Sean Ellis at Art Partner for Gucci, Vogue, Arena, Dutch, The Face, Dazed and Confused, led to a position as Associate Paris Fashion Editor for Claudie Rappeneau at Glamour magazine. She was then hired as Art Director at Pennel for Guerlain, L'Oréal, and Helena Rubinstein and then TCF Consultants for Cacharel, and Givenchy. She first became known as a professional photographer and art director creating advertising, catalog, editorial, celebrity portraiture, and other published works for Lanvin, Chloé, Dunhill, Caron, Le Figaro, Le Monde, Paris Capitale magazine, etc. She is represented in Paris by the agency of Valerie Anne Giscard d'Estaing, Photo12, and in London by Millennium. She has photographed numerous French celebrities such as Bérénice Bejo, Antoine de Caunes, Cécile Cassel, Francis Huster, Elsa Zylberstein, Nikos Aliagas, Isabelle Adjani, Jean-Hughes Anglade, Judith Godrèche, and many more. With the aim of better photographing actors, she studied with "Actor's Studio" co-founder Lee Strasberg's son John Strasberg, then with F.A.C.T. founder Sarah Eigerman and also with Italian actor Giovanni Savoia at Insieme Carpe Diem. She became enthralled with the craft of acting itself and has been working regularly as a professional actor ever since. She's been married to 2 Frenchmen, changing her name first to Stephanie Azibert, and now remarried as Stephanie Slama. She was the still photographer for the Scotland crew for Highlander III under her prior married name of Stephanie Azibert but they left out the 'i' in "Stephanie" in the credits so it reads as "Stephane". When not working she divides her time between Paris and Los Angeles. Her mother is a classical soprano and her father an award winning art director. Her brother, Steve Ellmore, is also a professional photographer and graphic designer based in Washington DC. The film "Francofonia" by Alexander Sokourov, in which she is featured, was awarded "Best European Film" at the Venice Film Festival 2015.
